A bit more shameless plugging |
|
First, let me introduce my latest project, which is now nearing completion: www.talkregister.com is a call recording service for people based in the UK. I got it setup using asterisk and of course joomla for the front end. I wrote my own MVP component to allow retrieval of recordings through the website. My First (ish) attempt at using the MVP model for programming. As with most of my projects its a bit of a "suck it and see" Secondly, Ive become accustomed with the magic that is google analytics... a truly remarkable tool that has so far shown me that the vast majority of my visits come the US... So I tip my hat to you people o'er the pond, and extend my apologies for not updating more often. Lastly, the never ending battle against the forces of spamvil (spam and evil together) are as ever continuing to hammer the site...Im pretty sure Ive got a bot registering itself for reason known only to its creator. So If you've sent me a message re sign up, and I havent responded.... I apologise, bare with me, Ive now got my own rented server, so im going to move the whole shebang over to that at some point, upgrade to 1.5, beef upsecurity, and generally make things a bit nicer. Till next time! |

At Last! Something about hotels! |
|
But not lunar hotels (I'm still saving up for my Virgin Space Flight Ticket). Well its 0600 and I'm sat In Starbucks in Dubai International Airport (The one near gate 206, not the one at the top of the escalator if anyone is interested) The late I just ordered is starting to do the trick, making up for the dire lack of sleep in the last 8 hours. Anyway, Why am I here in Dubai? I'm getting a connecting flight from Mauritius, having spent the last week there with my beloved. I'm not normally one for raving about the virtues of this hotel or that hotel, but having just experienced one of the most relaxing weeks in my life, I thought Id wax lyrical about the very excellent setup they have at the Maratim Hotel in Balaclava, Mauritius |

Hey Folkes, apologies for not updating in a while, but Ive been busy with a few more projects.Ive got a few things on the go (aside from earning myself a living) Firstly, ore as an exercise than anything else Im writing my first Joomla 1.5 component. Its a messaging component which is essentially a rip off of the facebook messaging system. I always thought it worked quite well , what with its "Thread" orientation, and apparently, immitation is the greatest form of flattery! Secondly, Im doing some more work on Getting zimbra faxing via hylafax, So I promise to update the projects section as soon as I get bored of doing the ohter stuff. But until then... I shall bid you good (morning/afternoon/night). Oh and the comments section has been spammed AGAIN.. not sure how they did it, but auto publish has now been disabled. Take that Spammers! |

New project just completed |

Im just finishing adding the finishing touches to http://www.sigmalimitededitions.co.uk/ , a bit of a mouthfull, but you can also get to it via http://www.cnvs.co.uk/ (kind of an abrieviation of "canvas") anyway theres upward of 200 pictures on there that you can have printed on to artist canvas, and of course its streched across a frame etc... or you can upload your own!) we've limited the number of each photo that can be printed to 250 so that it keeps a level of exclusivity. Check it out, and order one if you see one you like. A note on the technicals, I stuck with joomla 1.0.5 (started development just before I took the leap to 1.5) and using the latest stable of Virtuemart, I have to say in developing the site, I've learned a lot about Virtuemart, and ive written a few mambots / made some alterations which Ill post up here at some point. Anyhoo, thats all really, check it out: http://www.sigmalimitededitions.co.uk/ |
