UPDATE : ive written a Joomla 1.5 Native version of this and you can download it here. Instructions for use remain (pretty much) the same. Just make sure you enable it in the plugins page.

This mambot allows you to specify 5 ip addresses. Visiting content with the mosignorehit tag on it will cause the recorded hits to remain the same. This can be quite usefull if your writing content and want to check how it looks as you write it. (Checking layout etc). Obviously it keeps a more accurate count of the hits you are getting, because they dont include your own!

Installation:

1. Download the mambot from here (THIS IS THE 1.0.x VERSION, IF YOU WANT THE 1.5 VERSION ITS DIRECTLY NORTH ^)
2. Install the mambot in the usuall fashion (admin backend, then installers->mambots, browse for the zip, then click upload and install
3. Configure up to five ip address in mambots-> site mambots, and dont forget to publish it

Tagging existing content 

If you already have a lot of content and dont relish the prospect of putting [mosignorehit] (but with curly braces "{" and "}") on each content item. Ive included a script which runs outside of Joomla, and can add the tag to content items on a per-section or per-category basis. You can run it using

http://<yourdomainname>/mambots/content/ait.php?sectionid=x

or

http://<yourdomainname>/mambots/content/ait.php?categoryid=y

You dont need to edit the file to enter your database details becuase it includes the joomla config file and get the settings from there. 

BACKUP YOUR JOOMLA DATABASE BEFORE USING THE AIT.PHP SCRIPT!

Im not going to do a separate "How it works" article for this because its fairly simple, and to be honest, a bit messy! Essentially the presence of the mambot tag instigates checking of the visitors remote IP against the five IP addresses configured in the mambot settings. Of course there's no way to stop Joomla from incremementing the count (without editing the core code that is) so the only thing for the mambot to do is to subtract one hit from the total count. Inefficient I think you'll agree, but it serves the purpose! As ever, leave feedback (as long as it constructive) and feel free to give me some votes on the joomla extention page.
